Since 15th August 2021, almost the whole territory of Afghanistan is being completely controlled by the Taliban forces. Taliban have managed to create in Afghanistan such a situation, which led to the final withdrawal of the American military forces from this country, 20 years later (2001–2021). This fact has a very important historical parallel: the withdrawal of the Soviet military forces from Afghanistan in 1989, due to the actions of the Afghan mujaheddin fighters. There is a very strong connection between these two great historical events: most of the original Taliban leaders have fought against the Soviets in the past. So, it would be very sensible to say that the Taliban have managed to coerce two world’s superpowers (Soviet Union in 1989, and United States of America in 2021) withdraw from Afghan soil. And they did it thanks to their insistence, their patience, their deep faith, and their passion for the Islamic Sacred Law. During the period 1996–2001, Afghanistan had been governed by a very strict Taliban regime, which had imposed the strict application of the authentic Islamic Sacred Law’s values in country’s government. For example, during that period, the Taliban government of Afghanistan had imposed serious restrictions to Afghan women’s social life, as well as it had forbidden the most of the technological achievements, such as the television, etc. Now, as we are close to Panjshir Valleys’s fall, which is the last anti-Taliban resistance center remaining, the Taliban are in charge of Afghanistan again. It is a matter of time to form their official government in this country. In my opinion, Taliban have to search for solutions to combine the strict application of the Islamic Sacred Law with the Afghan people’s prosperity. Taliban representatives have already stated that they will be more moderate towards women than the past Taliban regime. They are going to respect them, always within the values of the Islamic Sacred Law. This is a very positive statement, and I hope that the Taliban will finally keep their word to respect fundamental women’s rights. The Taliban are excellent interpreters of the Islamic Sacred Law, so I believe that they will finally find the best formula to adjust the strict application of the Islamic Sacred Law into the modern way of life. In my opinion, Taliban must take seriously into consideration several values of modern life (respect for the fundamental human rights and freedoms, acceptance of important technological achievements for health and communication purposes, etc) in order to establish a stable, acceptable and respected regime in Afghanistan. In these terms, they have to drastically limit violence in their country, making, in this way, Afghanistan and Afghans safer. The transition to the new Taliban era must become in a considerate way, and the previous government must pass the control of the country to the Taliban without any resistance. From their side, the new Taliban government should try its best in order to guarantee the Afghan people’s prosperity under the strict application of the Islamic Sacred Law. The Taliban must take an initiative for the reconciliation of all the Afghans. Also, the new Taliban government has to follow a prudent exterior policy, in order Afghanistan to obtain crucial friendships for the improvement of the Afghan people’s prosperity and safety. I hope that the Taliban, as excellent interpreters of the Islamic Sacred Law, will finally manage to find the most appropriate way to respect the modern values of human rights etc, within the strict application of the Islamic Sacred Law. They must avoid the conversion of Afghanistan into a pariah state.
